Jocelyn Benford started painting in 2020 as a hobby, but the hobby quickly evolved into a passion, and in 2022 she retired from her long-time career as an elementary educator to devote herself full-time to making art. While living in Brooklyn, NY, Jocelyn’s artwork appeared in three solo shows and more than 30 group shows at local NYC galleries, including at 440 Gallery, Established Gallery, Brooklyn Waterfront Artists Coalition (BWAC), First Street Gallery, Carter Burden Gallery, and others. Jocelyn recently relocated to San Miguel de Allende, Mexico, where she joined Galería Blue Moon as a member artist and has exhibited at Galería Potranca. Jocelyn is currently represented by Idea Gallery in Door County, WI, and by Bee Street Gallery in Dallas & Fort Worth, TX. She frequently exhibits her work with The Other Art Fair and Gowanus Open Studios. In 2024 Jocelyn began teaching workshops in her unique style of abstract watercolor & mixed media painting, and she has led workshops in New York, Wisconsin, South Africa, and Mexico. She also has an online class, available through Etchr Studios. Jocelyn has participated in a number of arts residencies, including Chateau Orquevaux and Studio Faire in France and AIR Studios in Santa Fe, NM. Jocelyn is a member of the National Association of Women Artists (NAWA) and the New York Artists Circle. Jocelyn maintains a robust Instagram account, and her work can be seen in collections in Hong Kong, Canada, the UK, France, the Czech Republic, New Zealand, Mexico, and throughout the US.
