This is an all-inclusive book on night photography covering every topic from preparation and planning through essential gear and techniques to processing. It focuses on a variety of subjects in astrophotography, such as photographing the galactic core of the Milky Way, star trails, the aurora, meteor showers, and lunar eclipses. There is incredible detail disclosing not only the “how to,” but “why” one should shoot in these ways. The icing on top of all of this practical detail are the plethora of awesome photos interspersed throughout the book that show what is possible with practice and determination in this exciting realm of photography. Highly recommended for both the beginner and more advanced night photographer. There is so much to be learned from this well-written work.

I’m enthralled. I read this author‘s article on astrophotography in Outdoor Photographer magazine and … I understood his direct instructions! So I found myself out in the middle of West Texas, set everything up … and it worked! Definitely my reason to buy the book and I can’t put it down.
