What Happens in Vegas… March 4, 2016 – Posted in: Photography – Tags: las vegas, Photography, picture perfect lighting, Rocky Nook, wppi
Next week, Rocky Nook will head to Las Vegas for its first photo conference of the year. We are really looking forward to WPPI (Wedding and Portrait Photographers International). It’s sure to be a fun, exciting, and exhausting few days. Here are just a few of the reasons why we love going to conferences like WPPI.
Attendees: We really appreciate meeting and talking with so many attendees. It’s great reconnecting with Rocky Nook customers who we’ve met at previous shows, as well as meeting new photographers and introducing them to Rocky Nook’s great books. It’s always enlightening to collect and review all the notes from three full days of speaking with photographers; it helps us understand the directions that people are going in their careers, what topics they’re struggling with, and what we can do to help them improve at their craft.
Authors and Speakers: We love getting together with authors we already partner with, as well as meeting speakers who may have a book idea of their own. It’s always fun to meet with speakers and explore the photography topics they are most passionate about and that resonate most with their audiences. That’s usually a great place to start a conversation about a future book project.
And speaking of authors, this year we are thrilled to be releasing Roberto Valenzuela’s newest book, Picture Perfect Lighting, at WPPI. We have confirmation that a limited number of books are on their way to Las Vegas right now. We are thrilled to be working with Roberto, and I can confidently tell you—from having spent a good deal of time with the book already—it is absolutely packed with fantastic information that only Roberto could provide; I guarantee you will “see” light differently with this book by your side. If you’d like a quick peek at the book, go here to download a free ebook sample.
Classes and Events: While much of our time is spent in the Rocky Nook booth and in meetings with authors, speakers, and other partners, occasionally we do get to pop into a class or two and learn a little bit ourselves! Additionally, there are events in the evenings, which are a lot of fun and offer yet another way to connect with people.
Gambling: Ha! But seriously, leave your five lucky numbers in the comments below and I’ll try to play them at the roulette wheel.
So if you’re heading to WPPI next week too, please be sure to stop by the Rocky Nook booth (#233) and say hello. We’d love to talk to you. And let us know which speakers and classes you’re most excited about seeing!
